Gin Explorer 3
High-Performance EN-B Cross-Country Paraglider
Go Further. The Evolution of XC Freedom.
The Gin Explorer 3 is a completely new high-performance EN-B wing engineered for ambitious cross-country pilots. Built around a brand-new airfoil, a fresh planform, and bleeding-edge trickle-down developments from GIN’s higher-performance collection, it delivers superior glide, increased top speed, and heightened efficiency—all while preserving the intuitive handling and tactile comfort that made the Explorer line legendary.
Aimed at experienced EN-B pilots looking to stretch their XC limits, as well as pilots stepping down from more demanding categories who refuse to compromise on solid security and accessibility. This is far from an incremental refresh: the internal structure, wingtips, line layout, and profile geometry have all been reimagined.
Engineering Highlights
- New Generation Airfoil: Because paragliders lack a horizontal tail for pitch stabilization, pitching behavior must originate in the profile. The Explorer 3 profile moves toward the stable end of the spectrum, shifting the pitching moment toward a nose-up attitude. The result is a calmer wing in turbulent air that maintains pitch attitude naturally with less constant pilot intervention.
- Racked Tips & Elliptical Stabilo: Combines a new elliptical stabilo shape with raked wingtips to push vortices further from the main lifting surface, reducing induced drag—an advantage that scales sharply as airspeed increases.
- Wave Leading Edge: Borrowed from humpback whale tubercle research via GIN LAB, this delays airfoil separation, boosting efficiency at high angles of attack, lowering sink rates at low speeds, and making stall behavior remarkably progressive.
- Evolutionary Handling: Wider brake range with tactile energy control. Carves naturally while banking smoothly from wide, flat thermal-sniffing sweeps to tight, aggressive cores.
- Rear-Riser Control System: Enables clean pitch and trajectory management while accelerated, keeping glide flat and transitions seamless through active air masses.
Standard/Design Details: 3 Riser / 3 line spanwise, Nitinol rods, unsheathed aramid lines, gathering system, racked tip, wave leading edge, dirt cleaner system, magnetic fastener, and low-friction rings.
